Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th in 1961) is an American actor. Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress. Bassett is born in New York New York. She was raised at Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett, her mother and sister were moved from the city of Winston-Salem to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was five. Their father split from the mother of their children. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still at high school and decided that it was acting she would like to be doing. In 1980, Bassett completed her studies at Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She was also awarded a degree by The Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree in African American studies, in 1980.
